Busch Gardens Williamsburg

General Information

Busch Gardens Williamsburg is a 383 acre theme park, located sixty miles northwest of Virginia Beach. This park wasdeveloped by Anheuser Busch and is owned by SeaWorld Entertainment. It opened on may 16, 1975. The park is themed around various European countries and was originally called Busch Gardens: The Old Country. In 1993, the park was renamed Busch Gardens Williamsburg before being named Busch Gardens Europe in 2006 until it returned to the Williamsburg name in 2008. Busch Gardens is also widely known for its roller coasters, including Griffon, Alpengeist, and Apollo's Chariot, which won no.4 best steel coaster in 2012. The park also boasts seasonal events, such as Howl-O-Scream and Christmas Town.

Sesame Street Kids' Weekends

Alpengeist

Alpengeist has an Alpine mountain range theme. the name "Alpengeist" translates to ghost of the alps in german, and the ride is themed to a runaway ski lift. Alpengeist is the worlds tallest complete circuit inverted roller coaster.

Griffon

Griffon is a steel dive roller coaster and the second fastest at that. It is 205 feet high and travels at speeds of 71 mph. the coaster features two immelmann loops, two verticle drops, a splashdown, and is the first of its kind to use floorless trains.

Water Country USA

Virginia's largest water park is open for the 2019 season.

Loch Ness

Loch Ness is a steel roller coaster and at the time of its opening in 1978, it was considered the tallest and fastest coaster. It is also the only roller coaster with two interlocking loops. The design also includes a helix tunnel, two lift hills, and a 114 foot drop. The Loch Ness travels at 60 mph.

The Battering Ram

The Battering Ram is a high capacity, high-thrill ride. The ram fllows your classic swinging boat design. This model does not go upside down.

Mach Tower

Mach Tower is a drop tower desinged, high thrill ride. The tower is 246 feet tall, Busch Garden's tallest ride. It holds 30 people and ascends up at 6 feet per second. The carriage then drops at 50 miles per hour.
